The next blood drive, supported by the Knights of Columbus and hosted by the Village United Methodist Church at 200 Carmona Road, is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018. The church is located near the intersection of Carmona Road and DeSoto Boulevard. Contact Ed Aucoin at 501-617-7843 or Bob Woodall at 501-282-6072 to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.
Dear Richard,
For 45 years, a few unelected men and women on the Supreme Court have played God with innocent human life.
They have invented laws that condemned to painful deaths without trial more than 61 million babies for the crime of being "inconvenient."
In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade ruling forced abortion-on-demand down our nation's throat.
Dear Brother Knight,
Your immediate action is necessary to protect medical professionals and all people of faith from being forced to participate in or pay for abortions.
Congress is currently considering legislation to fund the government, and it is critical that a provision called the Conscience Protection Act be included in this legislation.
The Conscience Protection Act would strengthen federal law to ensure that doctors and nurses are not forced to perform abortions. This critical legislation would also ensure that our churches and other religious organizations do not need to cover abortion in their insurance plans.

Have you said to yourself, or others, "I'm doing pretty well, I think. Learning how to adjust." That's good, but you might help others who have suffered the loss of a loved one by sharing what worked for you and what you still struggle with. And, others can help you by sharing their experiences. There is a safe place for just that! We will begin another Grief Support Group here at Sacred Heart. The group will meet in the library on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 beginning March 6. There will be six weekly sessions facilitated by Deacon John. Each session will last one and a half hours. If you know of people who could benefit from these sessions, invite them to attend as they don't need to be a parishioner to sign-up. The size of the group is limited, so if you wish to attend, please make a reservation by calling Deacon John at 226-9035 or transmit an e-mail message to him at This email address is being protected from spambots. The Sacred Heart Lenten Reconciliation Service will take place on Tuesday, March 20, at 6:00 p.m. followed by opportunity for individual Confessions to one of, hopefully, eight priests who have said they will be here, including Father Nelson. The other services in the area are: Our Lady of Fatima, Benton, at 6:30 p.m. on March 8 and St. John's in Hot Springs on March 15 at 6:30 p.m.
Parish Life will be sponsoring one more Soup and Sandwich dinner during Lent. The next dinner will be held on Wednesday, March 14, at 6:15 p.m. in the Lower Hall after the 5:30 Mass. Menu includes ham and bean soup along with turkey/cheese and roast beef/cheese sandwiches. Look for the sign-up sheet on March 3 and after. The Education Commission will be showing a video during both of these dinners. Please join us for a delicious meal. Call Jen Rivera at 928-358-9069 or Sherrie Nichols at 617-733-1395 with questions.
Lenten Rosaries will be available in the hallway between the church narthex and the A & E Building beginning two weeks prior to Lent. These rosaries were made and are provided free-of-charge by the Sacred Heart Rosary Makers to anyone who wants one.
The tradition of the Lenten Rosary began in Venezuela and was brought to the United States by a Minnesota priest. The rosary consists of a cross on a cord with seven sets of three beads (The Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Glory Be). You are encouraged to say the rosary every day for the 40-day Lenten period, beginning Ash Wednesday, for someone special in your life; and, after Lent, you are encouraged to give the rosary to that special person that you were praying for.

Bishop Taylor is urging all Catholics to participate in the National Catholic Call-in Day for the Protection of Dreamers this Monday, February 26. Please call Sen. Cotton and Boozman and our U.S. representative to urge them to pass legislation to protect Dreamers from deportation. Details are available on the diocesan website, dolr.org.
Where it says "our U.S. representative" you can insert your congressman's last name, Hill, Womack, Crawford or Westerman.
Protection for Dreamers
Bishop Anthony B. Taylor is urging all Catholics to participate in the National Catholic Call-in Day for the Protection of Dreamers Monday, February 26. The U.S. Senate on February 15 failed to pass three separate pieces of legislation that would have given a path to citizenship to 1.8 million undocumented immigrants, commonly called Dreamers. Please call Sen. Cotton and Boozman and our U.S. representative to urge them to pass legislation to protect Dreamers from deportation.
Call Sens. Cotton and Boozman through the Capitol switchboard at (855) 589-5698 and press 1 to connect to each senator. Once connected to the senators' offices, ask the person on the phone to deliver this message to the legislator: "I urge you to support a bipartisan, common-sense and humane solution for Dreamers: Protect Dreamers from deportation and provide them with a path to citizenship. Reject proposals that undermine family immigration or protections for unaccompanied children. As a Catholic, I know that families are not 'chains,' but a blessing to be protected. Act now to protect Dreamers, our immigrant brothers and sisters."
Also call our representative again dialing (855) 589-5698 to reach the Capitol switchboard and press 2. Once connected to the representative's office, ask the person on the phone to deliver the same message to the legislator.

Thank you to all who helped with the basket program for 2017. We delivered 31 baskets at Easter, 30 baskets during the summer, 20 baskets at Thanksgiving and 52 baskets at Christmas. This is a total of 142 baskets to families that included 432 children. Our area has many families that are living with incomes below the poverty line. This is our way of making their lives a little easiesr! Thank you!
The Sacred Heart Men's Club distributed $9,500 during November to the following charities:
Thanksgiving/Christmas Basket Program, Jackson House, Samaritan Ministries, McCauley Center, Cedar Mountain Boys and Girls Club, St. John's School, Our Lady of Fatima School. A donation to the Catholic Schools Scholarship Fund will be determined later in the fiscal year.
The Sacred Heart Men's Club thank its members for participating in the various functions during the year and thanks the members of Sacred Heart for supporting their efforts, particularly our annual Chicken and Fish Bakes.

The FORMED website includes many video and audio programs. Some are full-length films or books; others are short dramatizations of important moments in saints' lives or documentary accounts of their words and actions that prove the depth of their faith. If you enjoy listening to short audio narratives, consider downloading "St. Francis of Assisi" or "St. Teresa of Avila: A True Reformer." If your prefer longer audio books, try The Trials of St. Patrick or Brother Francis: The Barefoot Saint of Assisi. If you would rather watch a film, there are short documentaries such as "The Secret of St. Therese" and "In Her Footsteps: The Story of St. Kateri Tekakwitha" and full-length films on the lives of saints of centuries past such as St. Peter and Joan of Arc and saints in our own time such as Mother Teresa and Padre Pio: Miracle Man.
