Fr. Walk for Cancer Research event takes place Saturday, September 28 at 7:30 a.m., rain or shine at the Balboa Pavilion. Walk all 5 miles or none at all - join in on the fun. Registration fee is $35. Our Sacred Heart of Jesus Music Ministry provides beauty, joy, comfort and inspiration for our liturgies and festive parish celebrations through the musical gifts, generosity and commitment of our members. Our Music Ministry Outreach included singing for the HSV Interfaith Council Community Thanksgiving Service. Samaritan Ministries provides food, shelter and faith for homeless men and is a non-profit Christian-based program. Their annual Fundraising Dinner is Saturday, September 21 at 6 p.m. at Samaritan Ministries on Sanford Street in Hot Springs. Rib steak, chicken, potatoes, veggies, roll, salad and delicious desserts will be served buffet style. The event is casual and you may tour the facilities. October is RESPECT LIFE Month. We will again be participating in "Life Chain" on Respect Life Sunday, October 6, 2019, on Central Avenue in Hot Springs between 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. This is an opportunity to express our Support for Life in Silent Prayer. It would be wonderful to have both sides of Central Avenue lined with people in silent prayer. We will meet at Hill Wheatley Plaza Parking Lot between 12:30 - 1:00 to hand out signs. We are normally stationed directly behind the fountain. We are able to walk up and down the sidewalk on the National Park side of the street but we are unable to stand in one place other than a limited number of people are able to stand on the corner of Reserve and Central by the National Park Office. Ladies of the Sacred Heart General Meeting will meet on Monday, September 9, after the 9:00 a.m. Mass for our first meeting of the 2019-2020 year in the Lower Hall. Singles will attend the Ceilidh Dah' (pronounced kay-lee gay) Scottish Festival that benefits the Ouachita Children's Center, October 3 at 5:30 p.m. at the Coronado Center. The first meeting of the 2019-2020 year for the Sacred Heart Men's Club will be on Tuesday, September 10 starting at 5:00 p.m. in the Lower Hall. This is a meeting where the members, their wives or dates, and widows of deceased members, are invited to attend. At 5:00 p.m., you may join others in the Upper Hall to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for family, church, our nation, world peace, and your personal intentions. Social gathering in the Lower Hall is from 5:00 to 5:45 p.m. Dinner will be served before 6:00 p.m. Our entertainment for the evening will be music played by Dave Capella on his accordion. Dance or listen as you prefer. The dinner for the evening will be Beef Tips and gravy on buttered noodles, and includes a salad, mixed vegetables, rolls, and ice cream for dessert. The cost of the dinner is $12 per person and will be catered by Johnna. This being the first meeting of our year, $12 annual dues will be collected at the meeting. If you know someone who is not a member, invite him and his wife/date to come and payment of his dues will get him a free dinner.

Tuesday, August 27 is the last day our produce truck will be here for the season. Please thank our farmer family, Tom and Jamie and family, for driving their produce truck to Sacred Heart. Be sure to stop and shop one last time for the season. The produce truck will be in the lower church parking lot from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The commission is also responsible for various meals in the parish hall. The commission meeting is held on the first Wednesday evening of even months.

On Sunday, September 15, the KofC would like to invite everyone to a Parish Breakifast. The menu will consist of sausage, eggs, biscuits, gravy, hash browns, juice, milk and coffee. This breakfast is being underwritten by Bill and Mary Lou George along with Mike and Ruth Kerwin. Breakfast is only $6.00 with children under 12 being free. All proceeds help fund Knights charitable activities throughout the year. Your support is greatly appreciated. See you there.
