On World Mission Sunday, October 20, 2019, Pope Francis reminds us of our baptismal call to be Christ's Church on mission in the world. Today we respond to that call, through our prayers and personal sacrifices for our brothers and sisters in the Mission - in places like Uganda where people face food uncertainty and violence; in the Philippines where local clergy face martyrdom; in Oceania where peoples' livlihoods are threatened by climate change; and in remote regions of Latin America where people are hearing the Gospel for the first time.
Respond on World Mission Sunday by supporting the priests, religious Sisters and Brothers, and lay catechists who provide loving service to those most in need. "May the love for the Church's mission, which is a passion for Jesus and a passion for His people 'grow ever stronger!'" Thank you.

Your baby's heartbeat may now be audible through an instrument called a doppler. The fingers and toes are well-defined. Eyelids, eyebrows, eyelashes, nails, and hair are formed. Teeth and bones become denser. Your baby can even suck his or her thumb, yawn, stretch, and make faces. The nervous system is starting to function. The reproductive organs and genitalia are now fully developed, and your doctor can see on ultrasound if you are having a boy or a girl. By the end of the fourth month, your baby is about 6 inches long and weighs about 4 ounces.

The Balboa Baptist Church, Barcelona Road Baptist Church, Faith Lutheran Church, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and Village Bible Church will all be co-sponsoring and participating in the Crosses For Life Memorial in the Village this year during the month of September. This state-wide outreach project was originally started by Benton County Right To Life. The crosses represent some of the 2000 plus pre-born children that die daily in the United States of America due to abortion. The displays at each of the churches are to memorialize those children that were aborted and increase public awareness of the devastating effects of abortion. As you drive by the churches and see the crosses, please say a prayer for the end of abortion in the United States. Saint Mother Teresa was a champion of life and was quoted saying the following: "And if we can accept that a mother can kill her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another."
Thanks for the numerous volunteers that dedicated their time to place these symbolic crosses. Due to unforeseen changes, the Service which was scheduled for Sunday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m. here at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic CHurch will NOT be held as previosly announced. The crosses will be displayed for the complete month of September.

Join the Diocese of Little Rock's in-state mission initiative. One Church: Unite Arkansas in Faith and Mission supports a rural mission in our diocese that needs a leg up to become a thriving community. This year's partner is Holy Spirit Church in Hamburg, a vibrant Spanish-speaking congregation in Southeast Arkansas that is struggling to pay off their new church complex. Pray for the success of this project and give today at www.dolr.org/one-church.
