2021 Cackie UpchurchOn Monday, August 23, 2021, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Hot Springs Village will be holding a DAY OF REFLECTION to be presented by Cackie (Catherine) Upchurch.  She is the general editor of the "Little Rosk Catholic Study Bible."  She is a regular contributor to "Give Us This Day" as well as a guest columnist for the "Arkansas Catholic Weekly Newspaper" for the Diocese of Little Rock.  Cackie is a lifelong student of Scripture, a retreat director and a teacher, in addition to being a writer. 

The theme for the Day of Reflection is ON THE ROAD TO EMMAUS:  LESSONS FOR LIFE'S JOURNEY.  The day of reflection  to be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Pre-registration for the Day of Reflection with Cackie Upchurch, will begin before and after all Masses on August 7/8 and August 14/15.  There is no charge for this event.

bishop mcdonald cca golf classic logo golf pageThis year's annual golf tournament, the main fundraiser for Catholic Charities of Arkansas, will take place for the first time at Diamante Country Club, Hot Springs Village.  Please mark your calendar for Monday, October 18 and get a team - four person scramble, together, or sign up as an individual and we'll hope to get you on a team.  Our parish will subsidize the entry fee for golfers who are Sacred Heart parishioners (up to a certain number) with your cost being $85.00.  Registration forms in the Narthex or download at https://www.bit.ly/cca-golf.   Please fill out and return it to our parish office, (DO NOT MAIL IT TO THE ADDRESS GIVEN ON THE FORM) with a check made out to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church with "Bishop McDonald Classic" on the memo line.
Lost and FoundSeveral items are on a table in the A/E Hallway that have been collected over the last year or more as "Lost and Found."  Please take a look at what is there and claim it if you can identify it as yours.  We will leave the table on display for a short period of time and after that the items will be discarded.
PeachesDon't forget our Farmer's Market on Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the lower parking lot.  They have many delicious fruits and vegetables.  They will only be here for 2 more weeks, so hurry and get your fresh produce while it lasts!
Seven Sisters ApostolateThe Seven Sisters Apostolate is a call to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a Holy Hour is prayed each day of the week for a specific priest or bishop for his growth in conformity to Christ.  This has been approved for our parish, so at this time we are looking for 6 women to join with the Anchoress (leader) Kateri Amrhein of our parish to participate in this ministry to pray for Fr. Bill.  Call Kateri at 302-841-2042 if you want to commit to this group of "sisters" or meet with Kateri after one of next weekend Masses to ask questions and/or sign up.
GrandparentsSunday, July 25, 2021 has been designated by Pope Francis, as the First World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly (Ord Time 17).  It coincides with the Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, grandparents of Jesus, on July 26.  Occurring in the Year of Amoris Laetitia Family 2021-22 with the theme, 'I am with you always,' the day draws attention to the vital role grandparents and the elderly play in our communities and in the mission of the Church.

Our Lady Help ofPersecuted IconOn August 7th at 9:00 a.m. Mass, the Knights of Columbus are sponsoring the Marian Prayer Program.  The centerpiece of this service is the image of Our Lady Help of Persecuted Christians.  This prayer service is intended to spread devotion to Our Lady and raise awareness for the plight of Christians persecuted for their faith and to stand in prayerful solidarity with them.  A reception will follow in the Lower Hall.
2021 Voices Rising HSVVoices Rising will present "A Summer Celebration" Sunday, August 1, 3:00 p.m. at Village Bible Church.  This concert features sacred and spiritual selections from gospel to Godspell, and jazz/pop/show pieces from Showboat to Secret Love to Chicago.  If you've seen a Voices Rising show, you know there will be some surprises in store too!  This is a free concert with a love offering taken at the end.  Voices Rising has performed at Sacred Heart for the Twelfth Night celebration and on other occasions.  Bill Lamoureux and Maureen Morgan are members of this ensemble.

Kairos MinistryThose interested to learn more about Kairos Prison Ministry will have a 2-hour Coffee and Donuts get together on Saturday morning, August 7, starting at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 10:00 a.m. at the Nazarene Church downtown Hot Springs.  Due to Covid we had to stop our prison ministry at the Malvern State Prison.  We have been authorized to gradually resume our prison ministry work at the Malvern facility in September.  The purpose of this Coffee and Donuts is for our members to reconnect and share our experiences with those people interested in the Kairos Prison Ministry and would like to learn more.  If you have any questions, please call parishioner Pietro Tomassi 501-282-4427.  Thank you and God Bless.
Folk GroupOn Wednesday's at 11:15 a.m. (immediately following Sunday Choir practice), anyone who plays an instrument (drums, guitar, bass guitar, electric guitar, flute, or any other instrument not mentioned), is invited to come together to meet and discuss starting a "folk group" to play at Mass once a month.  Being able to "read" music is a plus but not mandatory.  Please call Lynne Border at the office 501-922-2062, ext. 13 or call her cell phone 231-881-4472 if you have any questions.  Don't forget to bring your instruments!
food basketIn 2021, with more and more vaccinated individuals, we would like to resume the personal delivery of the Summer Food Baskets.  Sacred Heart parishioners will be delivering baskets to needy families that have school aged children home for the summer.  It is an extra burden on some families when their children are home during the summer and do not get breakfast and lunch at the schools.  The baskets will be paid for by the Sacred Heart Basket Fund and wil be delivered between July 17 and July 24.  If you can deliver a basket to a family please contact Ed Keearns at 501-922-3832 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
