bishop mcdonald cca golf classic logo golf pageBishop McDonald Golf Tournament benefiting Catholic Charities of Arkansas (25th Annual), Monday, October 7, at Maumelle Country Club, located just outside Little Rock.  Our parish will be giving a nice donation as a "Champion Sponsor" and will therefore, support any of our parishioners who would like to play in this four person scramble at either 8:00 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.  The golfers from our parish will pay $75/person which includes green fees, golf cart, and food on the course, as well as, food before and after play.  The teams will be flighted at the end of play, with prizes given after the morning and afternoon rounds.  You may pick up a registration form from our parish office.  Please return the form to Fr. Project RachelHas a past abortion left you with a broken heart?

Respect Life MonthOctober is RESPECT LIFE MONTH.  We will again be participating in "Life Chain" on Respect Life Sunday, October 6, 2019, on Central Avenue, Hot Springs, between 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  This is an opportunity to express our Support for LIfe in Silent Prayer.  It would be wonderful to have both sides of Central Avenue lined with people in silent prayer.  We will meet at Hill Wheatley plaza Parking Lot between 12:30 - 1:00 p.m. to hand out signs.  We are normally stationed directly behind the fountain.  We are able to walk up and down the sidewalk on the National Park side of the street but we are unable to stand in one place other than a limited number of people that are able to stand on the corner of Reserve and Central by the National Park Office.  If you have any qyestiobns or need further informatipon, please feel free to call Becky Antoine, Respect Life Coordinator for St. Mary of the Springs Catholic Church, at 501-622-0125.

chicken creamedThe Sacred Heart of Jesus Men's Club Annual Chicken Bake (Fundraiser) will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019.  Everyone is invited.  There will be two seatings:  5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.  Doors will open 20 minutes prior to the dinner.

The Menu is:  Green Salad with House Dressing, Lemon Glazed Baked Chicken, Herb Roasted Potatoes, Green Beans with Toasted Almonds, Rolls, and coffee.  The refreshment Center will be open, donations are joyfully accepted.  In addition, Father Bill's famous homemade ice cream will be available for a donation.

Tickets are $12.00 per person in advance or $13.00 per person at the door.  Children 6 - 12 years of age are half price, $6.00.  Children under 6 years are free.

Caryy-outs are available.  Tables of 8 may be reserved.  Tickets will be sold before and after all Masses this weekend, September 21st and 22nd.

Inquiring MindsFr. Bill would like to offer the opportunity for those who are NOT Catholic to come to one of two gatherings that are being held on Thursday, September 5 at 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. to find out more about the Catholic faith and the process of how one is prepared to be baptized and/or make a profession of faith and live in full communion with the Catholic faith and our parish of Sacred Heart of Jesus.  If you are interested, please call Fr. walkWalk for Cancer Research event takes place Saturday, September 28 at 7:30 a.m., rain or shine at the Balboa Pavilion.  Walk all 5 miles or none at all - join in on the fun.  Registration fee is $35.  Event proceeds go to the "Seeds of Science" program at Winthrop P. choirOur Sacred Heart of Jesus Music Ministry provides beauty, joy, comfort and inspiration for our liturgies and festive parish celebrations through the musical gifts, generosity and commitment of our members.  Our Music Ministry Outreach included singing for the HSV Interfaith Council Community Thanksgiving Service.  If you can carry a tune, want to learn, and have a desire to sing with us, please call Lynne Border at 501-922-2062, extension 13.  Choir practice for our Sunday Mixed Choir will begin on Wednesday, August 28 at 3:00 p.m. in the choir area of the church.
Samaritan Ministries2Samaritan Ministries provides food, shelter and faith for homeless men and is a non-profit Christian-based program.  Their annual Fundraising Dinner is Saturday, September 21 at 6 p.m. at Samaritan Ministries on Sanford Street in Hot Springs.  Rib steak, chicken, potatoes, veggies, roll, salad and delicious desserts will be served buffet style.  The event is casual and you may tour the facilities.  Tickets are $50 each and the need is great as they continue to help those less fortunate.  For tickets, please contact Jan Laggan, 501-321-2888 or Bob or Ann Bowman for more information, 501-922-6619.

LOSHLadies of the Sacred Heart General Meeting will meet on Monday, September 9, after the 9:00 a.m. Mass for our first meeting of the 2019-2020 year in the Lower Hall.  We invite any new ladies of the parish who would like to come and discover the rewarding benefits of being part of LOSH.  A light luncheon will be served.  There will be no speaker this month as it is time to catch up with your friends.  We will be collecting school supplies for teachers and students of the Mountain Pine school district.  Please contact Liz Edwards if you have any questions at 832-236-3350.
Singles FellowshipSingles will attend the Ceilidh Dah' (pronounced kay-lee gay) Scottish Festival that benefits the Ouachita Children's Center, October 3 at 5:30 p.m. at the Coronado Center.  Join for a fun evening of bagpipes and Scottish music, traditional Scottish foods, Scottish lore and legends.  Ticket price is $40 per person.  Price includes dinner, two drink tickets (yes adult beverages) and entertainment.  Make checks payable to the HSV POA and give to Debbie or Susan or place in the Singles folder in the rolling cabinet located in the old copier room in the A&E hall.  Sign-up sheet will be in the Singles book in the narthex.  Payment will be due by September 15th.
