Helping Hands Ministry recognizes that at some time everyone needs help coping with sudden illness or unforeseen circumstances. Helping Hands volunteers stand ready, willing and eager to assist registered parishioners at turning points or in emergency situations, providing help until problems are resolved or until permanent solutions are found.
We handle requests for transportation to Mass or medical appointments and for information about available resources for those in transition. We can provide a reassuring phone call to those who need a willing listener, and soon we hope to resume in-person homebound visits. Our volunteers realize that our prayers, care and support for those in need make a positive difference in outcomes. CALL US! We are just waiting for the opportunity to assist you!
MOST IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE A PARISHIONER WHO NEED ASSISTANCE FROM HELPING HANDS:
1. We can not help you if we do not know who you are or that you need help.
2. We can not help you if you do not call us.
3. We will do our very best to serve you SAFELY and CONFIDENTIALLY.
4. We can help if you still have not gotten your COVID vaccination, and need a ride to a COVID vaccine site.

During this year dedicated to St. Joseph, Sacred Heart would like to have a Pilgrim (Traveling) statue of St. Joseph visiting the homes of our parishioners. Parishioners would sign up for 1 week to have the statue in their home. The year ends this December 8, 2021. If anyone is willing to LOAN us their statue of St. Joseph to use as a pilgrim state, please call Sharon Board at 501-922-6995. We need 3 statues. Please give prayerful thought about loaning us your statue. Thanks and Blessings.
MI CASA es tu casa. This Hispanic saying holds a special meaning for us here in Arkansas. CASA, our Catholic Arkansas Sharing Appeal, is a way for all of us to make a difference right here at home. Not matter your resources, your monthly support can fit your budget, it's not the amount of the gift that is important. As they say, many hands make the work light. If we all give a little, with God's blessing, it will be enough. Become a CASA supporter today, return your CASA/Gift/Pledge in the envelope provided. Extra envelopes are located in the Narthex.

Please remember to fill out the check card before removing it from the library.

Sacred Heart of Jesus offers Balance classes in addition to strength training and light to moderate aerobic activity classes. Having good balance is an important way to prevent falls, but there are many benefits to regular exercise, especially as we age. Physical activity along with a healthy diet are two of the most important lifestyle factors that determine whether or not we age gracefully. Finding an exercise program that is fun and engaging is essential if we want to create a lasting habit, but there are lots of different types of exercise to choose from. Senior citizens should choose an exercise program that they can continue to do over the course of time as their bodies change.
Exercise is not just a way to get into shape or to prevent injurious falls. It can also be a reason to go outside and get fresh air. It can be a reason to socialize and mix with other like-minded individuals of all ages. Through exercise, people tune into their physical bodies and notice what is going right and what is going wrong. Exercise classes are in the Lower Hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. and last one hour.

If you have shied away from yoga because you feel intiminated by the postures you see on the cover of magazines, you might be surprised to learn that most if not all poses can be performed in a chair. Chair Yoga has been shown to improve overall health. The mosts common feedback that I have received from students is that they sleep better, drive better...and that they feel they are doing something really good for themselves. They just feel healthier, which attributes to the increase in circulation and stimulation of the lymphatic system. And they find they can relax more than they ever knew possible. With this in mind, it's no surprise that it can therefore lend its benefits to everyone - especially those with mobility issues. I encourage each and everyone of you to come to one of the classes Sacred Heart of Jesus has to offer and try it out for yourselves. I have a chair ready for you. Thank you for donating "pull tabs." Collecting pull tabs is a great way to help children and their families at Ronald McDonald House across the country. They are able to raise thousands of dollars each year through these simple donations. We continue to collect them for this charity and we take them directly to the Ronald McDonald house location in Little Rock for their fundraising efforts. Any soda or beer cans, pet food cans, vegetable, fruit and soup cans all may have the "pull tabs." There is a box on the cabinets of the A&E Hallway for you to place your tabs anytime. This effort is sponsored by LOSH and we appreciate your support.
The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on many people's lives. The damage has not only been to our bodies but has also been to our mental state. Mental health problems, however, are not limited to our present crisis. One in four people will be affected by a mental health problem at some point in their lives, yet the stigma surrounding mental illness silences many and prevents faith communities from responding compassionately and effectively. "The Sanctuary Course for Catholics" which can be found on Formed addresses this problem by exploring the intersection of Faith and mental health. It is available as a coursebook or audio book. This course for adults has eight sessions and is accompanied by eight films. It is designed for use in small groups and includes interactive discussion questions and group exercises. Families, church groups or individuals can use the search function on formed to locate this course. (click on the three parallel lines in upper left corner of Formed site) You can learn more about this course and Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries at www.sanctuarymentalhealth.org/catholics.
