AngelThe Angel Tree gifts have been sorted by family and child, inventoried and placed in the appropriate boxes in the Upper Hall.  Non-perishables from Project Hope Food Bank have been brought to the Upper Hall by volunteers, packaged according to the size of the family and placed in the boxes for delivery.  The next step in the process is for the volunteers who have been contacted to shop for perishables, pick up the gift boxes and boxes of non-perishables designated for their family.  We encourage the volunteers to contact their families before December 17th, which is the last day of school before Christmas break.  If the families cannot be reached through information provided on the family record form, the guidance counselors at the schools are our only source of additional information.  If there are any questions, please contact Claudia or Ed Keearns at 501-922-3832 or 501-922-8968.

food basketThe committee wants to offer a big "Thank you" to all our parishioners who donated so generously to the Food Basket Program the last weekend in October.  While donations can be made year round, this weekend collection represents the bulk of our yearly  budget.  Another way to help families in need in the Jessieville, Fountain Lake, and Mountain Pine school districts is by participating through the Angel Tree.  The Angel Tree will go up in the Narthex the weekend before Thanksgiving (November 19-20).  Select an angel and buy the gift suggested.  Then return the wrapped gift to the tree the first weekend of December.  There is also still time to volunteer to help in person by taking a family to shop for and to deliver the food and gifts at Christmas time.  The Food Basket Committee will provide you with the name and contact information for a famly in need this holiday season.  As a volunteer, you contact the family by phone, ask a few questions about their preferences and shop for perishable grocery items.  Turn in your receipts to the committee and you will be reimbursed.  The week before Christmas, the food and gifts from the Angel Tree and the perishables are delivered to the family.  This is a great way to take part in the true spirit of Christmas.

If you have questions or wish to volunteer, call Ed Keearns 501-922-3832.

Eucharistic AdorationIt is significant and truly a joy for us to be celebrating the Eighth Anniversary of Eucharistic Adoration at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.  Over these eight years many have been blessed to spend at least one hour a week in communion with Jesus, adoring Him, petitioning Him, and sometimes just resting peacefully in His presence.  We have been blessed with good and faithful leadership of this special ministry at all levels, including the coordinator, which has been been and still is Tom Donnelly.  We hare having a special Mass this Friday, November 19th at 9:00 a.m., followed by a light brunch in the Lower Hall.  ALL adorers (regular and substitutes) as well as potential adorers are invited to the brunch.  Please call Tom Donnelly at 915-0880 if you have not already signed up in the Narthex.
Our Lady of GuadalupeOn Thursday, November 18, the Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a program honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe at The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

The program honors Our Lady as the patroness of the Americas and also affirms our dedication to the sanctity of all human life.  All Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart parishioners are encouraged to attend.

This Devotion is part of the Knights of Columbus Silver Rose Program; the Silver Rose is carried by Knights from city to city, district to district, and council to council from Canada to the Cathedral in Mexico City - to arrive there on the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  The rose symbolizes one of the roses that fell from Juan Diego's cloak when he delivered the Virgin's message to his bishop on December 12, 1531.
