crosses on field remembrance day clip art 23131The Balboa Baptist Church, Barcelona Road Baptist Church, Faith Lutheran Church, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and Village Bible Church will all be co-sponsoring and participating in the Crosses for Life Memorial in the Village this year during the month of September.  This statewide outreach project was originally started by Benton Country Right To Life and is now managed by Arkansas Right To Life.  The crosses represent some of the 2000 plus pre-born children that die daily in the United State of America due to abortion.  The displays at each of the churches are to memorialize those children that were aborted and increase public awareness of the devasting effects of abortion.  As you drive by the churches and see the crosses, please say a prayer for the end of abortion in the United States.  Saint Mother Teresa was a champion of life and was quoted saying the following: "And if we can accept that a mother can kill her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another."  The crosses will be displayed for the  complete month of September.
Blood DriveThe next Arkansas Blood Institute Blood Drive supported by the Knights of Columbus and hosted by the Village United Methodist Church, 200 Carmona Road, is 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.  There will be a Blood Mobile available for those giving blood and extra precautions will be taken to ensure everyone's safety.  ABI is requesting that appointments be made for this drive, and patience is also requested during this trying time.  Please note:  There is an urgent need of blood at this time.  Previous donors with email addresses have been sent an email reminder.  New donors can contact Connie at 501-922-4891.  Thank you, in advance, for sharing your "gift of life."

Sacred Heart Parishioners,

Please take the time to read and reflect on what the bishops says in the letter that can be pulled up as a link on this e-mail.  Please remember our bishop has definitely had and has our entire well being in mind with the decisions he has made with regard to the Coronavirus.

His lifting of the dispensation from the obligation to ATTEND Mass comes I’m sure after much thought, prayer and consultation with various civil and maybe religious leaders.

I agree that it speaks strongly about the safety of everyone coming back to Mass that there has not been one case of COVID that comes as a result of anyone being at Mass since the resumption of public Masses in Arkansas since Mother’s Day weekend.

Continuing to follow the protocols of sanitizing on the way in and out of church, keeping Families six foot apart in the pews and wearing masks the WHOLE time we are gathering together in the pew area and throughout our parish complex HAS and we pray will continue to keep us safe from getting the Coronavirus.

For those who saw the recent upsurge in positive cases in Arkansas.....some of which were tied to church, funeral and large gatherings of people, those cases happened because the protocols I mentioned about above were not being followed as they should.

WE WILL continue to follow these protocols to the best of our ability and efforts AND we will continue for now to offer the option of at least one parking lot Mass every Sunday from this weekend until further notice on Sundays at 11:30 am. Consider trying this Mass out of you wish. Tune in to 88.1 FM from anyone in our church parking lot and hear (and hopefully see) the Mass clearly with the “great” blessing of receiving Holy Communion in your car!!!

Thanks for reading this and now clicking on below what the bishop has to say.

Letter from Bishop Taylor - 9/25/2020

2015 Fr. Ron HoyePlease mark your calendars for October 4-6 as we prepare for our 2020 Parish Mission given by Fr. Ron Hoye, a Vincentian priest who inspired us through a mission experience five years ago - and is eager to join us again.  Fr. Hoye will be the homilist at all the Masses on October 3/4.  Fr. Ron's mission theme is "The Main Thing is to keep The Main Thing."  Fr. Hoye will begin our mission Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m.  There will be a morning session at 9:45 a.m. and repeated again at 7:00 p.m. in the main Church on Monday and Tuesday.  Plan to come an encourage others to come as well, no prior registration is needed.  Masked are required.  Donation in support of the Vincentian Missions are welcome and encouraged.  See you there!!
Thank youThe Knights of Columbus wish to thank the generous Sacred Heart of Jesus Parishioners who participated in our 2020 Seminarian Support Campaign.  Even though we were unable to have our traditional Taste of Faith dinner, your support of our campaign resulted in a record setting donation of $45,250.00 for our seminarians.  Planning has already begun for the 2021 Taste of Faith dinner.  We hope to see you there!
Forty Day For LifeThe 40 Days for Life Campaign will run during September and October.  Prayer warriors will be socially distanced and praying at the new Planned Parenthood location in West Little Rock.  Each hour will be covered by two people.  Sacred Heart is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  Signup sheets will be in the Narthex.  You might consider signing up with a friend and driving over together, wearing masks.  At these time, traffic will be light and the weather should be ideal.  This Planned Parenthood location will be performing chemical abortions.  Perhaps your prayers and your presence might cause a woman to rethink taking this step.  Parishioner, John Lucas of our parish went to the LR abortion clinic every week for 10 years.  He experienced, first hand, the saving power of God when a woman would change her mind.  He said that "really made me feel good!"
2020 Sinclair Jr. ThomasThomas Sinclair, Jr., son of Thomas Sr. and Peggy Sinclair will play preludes before Mass this weekend before the 10:00 a.m. Mass.  He is enrolled with the Jessieville School District.  Thomas will be playing What Child Is This and Beethoven's Op 49, No. 1, 1st Movement.  Thank you Thomas for sharing your gift of music!
LOSH LOGOThe Ladies of the Sacred Heart (LOSH) will hold their next general meeting on October 12, 2020, socially distanced, in the lower hall, immediately after the 9:00 a.m. Mass.  Our speaker will be John O'Brien, the new Executive Director of the Hot Springs Village Chamber of Commerce.  Please let your guild captain know if you plan on attending, as space will be somewhat limited to Covid-19 restrictions.  Masks and social distancing will be required.  What to bring (besides your smile)?  You are free to bring a drink and any food (not to be shared) that you would like to consume at the meeting.

Our something extra for October will be items for Ouachita Children's Center.  They are requesting the following items:  Men's Large or XL underwear (for teenage boys); Deodorant, Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, soap, combs and brushes, disposable razors, first aid items, hand sanitizer, coloring books, colors or pencils, pens, notebooks for journaling.  There is a collection bin in the narthex for your use.  If you are staying home, and prefer to send a cash donation for supplies, contact Susan at 501-226-8546 for instructions or mail a check payable to Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Ouachita Children's Center on the memo line and send to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Attention: Susan Harrell, 295 Balearic Road, HSV, AR 71909.

Cash!  We will accept cash donations for OCC so they can purchase new clothing for the children.  We will also be selling raffle tickets ($1 each or 6 for $5) for four baskets of goodies and a silent auction for various jewelry items.  We hope to see you on the 12th!
Mens Club LogoThe next meeting of the Sacred Heart Men's Club is on Tuesday, October 13, at 5:00 p.m. in the Lower Hall of the Church.  At 5:00 p.m. you may join others in the Upper Hall to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for family, Church, our nation, world peace, and your personal intentions.  Social gathering in the Lower Hall is from 5:00 to 5:45 p.m.  Dinner will be served before 6:00 p.m.  After dinner, Rick Varley  and Bruce Dale, members of the Men's Club, will discuss the game of Pickeball, which has become a popular sport nationally and here in the Village, and will give a short demonstration on how the game is played.  There will be a short business meeting after the Pickleball presentation.

The dinner for the evening will be multiple selections of pizza and ice-cream for dessert.  Cost of the dinner is $10.  Any man who is a member of Sacred Heart or whose wife is a member of Sacred Heart, even though he is not a member, is invited to attend.  New members eat free by paying the $15 membership fee.  Anyone attending and eating dinner, whether a member or visitor, will need to make a reservation by contacting Bill Patterson at 922-6965 or by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. Life ChainThe 33rd annual Life Chain will take place Sunday, October 4, 2020, from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., in front of the Visitors Center in downtown Hot Springs.  Stand with thousands of pro-life individuals throughout the USA and Canada in honor of millions of babies whose lives have been lost to abortion.  This is a visual statement of solidarity by people of all faiths, that abortion kills children and we suppport the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception to natural death.  Bring water, hats, umbrellas and lawn chairs.  Signs will be provided.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, carpooling will not be arranged.  A signup sheet and flyers are available on a table in the narthex.  For additional information, contact Barb Potter at 226-3246.
