Yoga ChairYoga stretchAs most of you know by now, SHJ offers FIT 'N BALANCED classes every Tuesday and Thursday in the Lower Hall.  Scheduled times are: 10:00-11:00 a.m; 11:30-12:30 p.m; and 1:00-2:00 p.m.  Every Wednesday we now offer two additional classes.  YOGA/STRETCH from 1:00-2:00 p.m. and the widely popular CHAIR YOGA from 2:30-3:30 p.m.  You may ask yourself, can I do YOGA?  The answer is "YES YOU CAN!"  CHAIR YOGA is a great way for older adults to get the wonderful health benefits by using a chair.  Staying seated means that even frail seniors or those who are not as flexile can safely do the exercises.  Yoga is an excellent way for older adults to loosen and stretch painful muscles, reduce stress, and improve circulation and concentration.  The YOGA/STRETCH class is basically the same with the exception that ALL poses are performed on a Yoga Mat.  This is an advanced class.  If you have never taken a Yoga Class do not be afraid.  It is a wonderful way to improve your posture, your flexibility, your mind, your body and spirit.  Plus, it will put a SMILE on your face.

formed logo semiboldFor Catholics, the Mass is entirely familiar and treasured, but often not well understood.  Would you like to experience the Mass more fully?  On FORMED.ORG, there is an audio titled, "Scriptural Walk Through the Mass."  Dr. Edward Sri, a scripture scholar, takes his audience on a journey through the sacred liturgy that is sure to help Catholics experience the Mass in a brand new way.

Dr. Sri shares the historical and biblical roots of the words, prayers, actions and getures contained within the Mss.  There is also an optional short bonus audio by Scott Hahn called "The Supper."  In it he shares his conversion experience of attending Mass for the first time.

Prayer WarriorsPlease look for more in Fr. Bill's column next week about the Sacred Heart of Jesus Prayer Warrior Ministry.  For this week we are putting out a simple and heartfelt plea for more of our parishioners to consider becoming a part of this wonderfully rewarding and very impactful ministry of praying for people who have a serious and immediate need for prayer for themselves or a loved one who is ill.  Please call Marvin Young, the current Adminstrator of this ministry at 915-8028 to find out what is involved in being a Sacred Heart of Jesus Prayer Warrior.  With COVID restrictions keeping many at home, this perhaps is the time to answer the call to do the Lord's work for people in need from the safety of your home.  Please consider responding!
formed logo semiboldIn "7 Secrets of Confession," an inspiring presentation by popular speaker Vinny Flynn explores the "hidden" truths of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, presenting what to many will be a whole new way of approaching Confession.  He invites you to begin an exciting personal journey to healing and holiness.  If you do not yet look forward to Confession in the same way you look forward to Communion, this will change your life.
thank you 1During the 2020 calendar year Sacred Heart delivered food baskets to 172 families which included 542 children.  This was due to the generosity of time, talent and resources of our very giving, supportive parish.  These baskets have been a real blessing for many families during this time of economic problems due to the COVID pandemic.  Please continue to support our efforts, starting with Easter of this year, as we hopefully see a end to these difficult economic times.
