Health WellnessSacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church is happy to announce its newly formed Wellness Ministry.  The Wellness Ministry falls under the Parish Life Commission and focuses on the prevention of illness and injury, as well as the promotion of wellness within the mind, body and spirit.  Although this is a newly formed ministry, there are a couple programs currently in action.

Fitness for ALL:
Offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:00-9:00 a.m., Upper Hall of the parish.  This long running group is for all activity levels and is led by an Audio Prompt encouraging participants to keep their body in motion by offering low impact and light strength conditioning exercises.  Come try it out.  ALL are welcome.  Bring a mat.

Fit n' Balanced:  This core stability and chair structured class focuses on maintaining balance, conditioning and toning.  Linda Broome instructs this class, bringing fun and excitement to each class.  She makes a personal goal to see that everyone enjoys her class.  Offered on Tuesday and Thursday, 10:00-11:00 a.m., Lower Hall.  Feel free to bring your own light hand weights.  Limited supply.

Pilates Mat:  Cathy Spell, certified Pilates Instructor, will be instructing a Pilates Strength class on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. in the Upper Hall starting February 11.  This class will focus on core strength, balance and coordination.  This class is designed for participants comfortable getting up and down from the floor.  Please bring you own fitness mat and be ready to have a great class.

Sacred Heart of Jesus has partnered with Oaklawn Center on Aging to offer evidence-based programs which parallel with the Wellness Ministry's focus.  These programs are:  Ageless Grace, A Matter of Balance and Diabetic Empowerment Education Program (D.E.E.P.).  The dates of offering will be announced shortly.  Stay tuned.
